Our user asked: "I have been waking up in the mornings with my mid back and spine area numb, it falls asleep just like if I had been sitting on leg or resting on an arm. Why am I experiencing this? What casues it to feel like its asleep? I am way overwieght and so I know that that doesn't help my low back pain problems. I know I have a weak back. I have low back stiffness at times, with movement after standing say 30 minutes or so. If anyone can give an answer or point me in a direction to look, I would appreciated it. Thanks!"

Ask a PT Response: "Without physically examining you it would be difficult to determine why your back feels like it is falling asleep. Numbness can be associated with compression/irritation of a nerve or with circulation issues. It might be a good idea to seek further medical attention to address your condition. Sorry I could not have been of more help."
