Our user asked: "Hi, My heel is killing me, especially after playing soccer.....the next morning. I am guessing it is plantar faciitis. Any suggestions?? What can I do when i am IN pain - ice? Thanks."

Ask a PT Response: "Pain in the heel and arch of the foot in the morning is often associated with plantar fascitis. With plantar fascitis treatment involves avoiding activities which aggravate it, stretching of the calf (gastroc and soleus)and of the plantar fascia, ice/ice bottle roller, massage and orthotics if needed. You can visit the plantar fascia page on the CyberPT site to see some sample exercise videos or to find more information. My recommendation would be for you to consult with your physician or physical therapist in order to determine if you truly are experiencing plantar fascitis. Thanks for using CyberPT.
