Our user asked: "I'm in my 60's and have a job that requires constant standing. What exercises would help prevent the sore legs and knees at the end of the day? How about a stairmaster or treadmill? I have no known leg disorders."
Ask a PT Response: "For my patients that have similiar job requirements such as yours, I would have them not only work on strengthening their muscles of the lower extremities (quads, hams, calves, ankles) but their hips, back and abdominal muscles as well. Incorporating a good stretching program is recommended as well ie. hams, quads, calves, hip flexors, ITB/glut, low back, etc.). Frequent rest breaks are also recommended.
