Why are they doing a graft and of what structure? Do you have an osteochondral defect? Meniscus tear etc??

I am an athlete and since past 2 months, experiencing pain in my left knee. I can also feel a slight sound, somewhat like "tuck" while i climb up stairs. First I thought its just a minor problem and will get fine on its own. But after the X-ray at Lewis orthopaedics, they have now asked me to go for a knee grafting...I am really scared if I would be get back to my normal life again and will b e able to run perfectly or not. anyone ever has undergone this surgery?
