Yes you could have sprained or strained something. Have you been able to recreate the pain again? If not, it might just have been a freak thing and a tendon or joitn might not have tracked properly. If you continue to experience pain, it is probably a good idel to see an ortho.

I recently posted a question about my arm/elbow area. I straighten my arm almost out all the way, with some little aching or catching. I think its something to do with the FCU, not sure though. Its my elbow/forearm area. Today my middle finger ached for a few seconds, it hurt and uncomfortable, it felt like it was sprung or had been sprained. It didn't last but a few minutes. Is that issue separate from my elbow/forearm? I may have to see an orthopedic if it doesn't get any better. I just want to know what would cause my middle finger on the same arm, to feel throb a few seconds and then go away. Any ideas? I tried opening a car trunk, I pushed the button and left up, or something and did something to my wrist (thumbside). Thats the only thing I can think of that could cause the finger issue, possibly. Thanks!
