Hi TJ - Shortened muscles must be restored before embarking on training of the weakened muscles. Therefore, you should keep workign on stretching. You could also obtain a biofeedback machine ie: http://www.amazon.com/Shunpu-Digital-Therapy-Instrument-Bio-Feedback/dp/B005C6FR5K/ref=sr_1_12?s=hpc&ie=UTF8&qid=1361219709&sr=1-12&keywords=biofeedback+machine. Which may help you with activiating the muscles that you are having difficulty with activating.

Im a 22 year old who loves to exercise and have played sports my whole life. I've been dealing with some sort of "twist" for years and literally spend 90% of my time trying to stretch or think of what I can do to fix this. I don't have my own insurance yet and my parents won't send me to a PT right now. It's really starting to make me really depressed.
Now i definately have some sort of cross syndrome but it is much more dramatic all through the right side of my body. My Transverse abdominis on my right side seems virtually non existent(EXAMPLE: body sort of twists when getting up from laying down), which i think is because my low back on the right side is overcompensating. I'm now working on trying to activate my right glute but no matter how hard i try it seems i cant do this without involving my low back....and again this only happens on my right side. I believe the psoas may have something to do with this but I just dont know for sure. ANY ADVICE WOULD BE GREATLY APPRECIATED PLEASE!! |
