Here are two informative articles:
Basically if a fusion is performed along with the disc replacement, physical therapy treatment wil be more conservative. As a patient, she has a right to have her questions answered and to know what she can and can't do. I'd suggest she contact her surgeon or the PA and get any of her questions answered. It may also be a good idea for her to participate in PT as well. I hope this helps.

hi
i have an aunt who has undergone disc replacement surgery for c6/c7 and cage in c5/c6. she is about 60 years old and she was suffering from several cervical discopathies with radicular pain in upper limb. i'm not in a situation that i can go and see her by my self and i don't have enough information about this surgery, but she is asking about post operation cares(such as which movement are allowed and which are not and how long she should have those limitations,is she allowed to drive, how much weight she can lift, can she have full range of motions in the shoulder etc) which her surgeon should told her but he didn't! so please help me in this area and if you introduce a reliable site for these information i'll be very thankful thanks alot |
