You should do some back exercise recommended by doctors. Find out the cause of back pain. You have to sit on good recliner chair and sleep on good mattress.

Our user asked: "I have a herniated L5-S1. I am in pain when sitting and walking. I can't make sudden movements. I go to PT twice a week. He puts the tens unit on me for $20 to massage me. Then I walk the treadmill for 10 minutes, then hamstring strectes about 20 each leg. He says my hamstrings are to tight and it is causing my pain in my back. How long will it take with these stretches to be pain free?"

Ask a PT Response: "I am sorry to say but that doesn't sound like the most optimal PT treatment to me. If you were my patient, I would be implementing manual therapy, McKenzie based exercises and core strengthening, Hamstrings could be part of the problem but there could be other issues as well. A full examination along with additional information would be required before I could determine what may be contributing to your condition. If you haven't noticed any improvement by now, your therapist may need to consider other treatment approaches."
