Our user asked: "Hi I have a anterior Deltoid muslce pain that is very bad, its not the rotator cuff because the deltoid muslce pain is all over the deltoid town till i touch my biceps. I can't help relive it, also my traps are very sore for more than weeks, i am just resting and resting, don't know what to. I think its due to weith lifting. please let me know what can i do to free the pain."

Ask a PT Response: "You may have injured your anterior deltoid but injury to your biceps long head and supraspinatus may be possibilities as well, as there is often pain located at the anterior shoulder/biceps when these muscles are injured. A consultation with your physician or physical therapist would better help you determine what is causing you your pain. Often times poor lifting mechanics and progression would result in injury. This may likely be the cause of your injury if you have not had direct trauma to your shoulder or performed any other activities which could have caused injury. Resting your shoulder is a good idea but you will also want to maintain your range of motion and strength. Shoulder wand exercises and shoulder isometric strengthening exercises may be performed to achieve these objectives. However, they should not be performed if you experience increase pain from these exercises. You may want to apply an ice pack or hot pack to help with the pain as well. If your condition does not improve definitely seek out medical attention. Often times physicians may prescribe anti-inflammatories, if appropriate, to help with the pain and inflammation. Thanks for using CyberPT."
