Our user asked: "How long can I expect to be off work after partial removal of disc at L5 on Dec. 16 2009, and what sort of rehab if any will I need?"
Ask a PT Response: "Time off work will depend on what your occupation is. Obviously an occupation which is more physical may require a longer duration of time off. Return to work is also at the discretion of your surgeon and therapist. Rehab following a partial discectomy usually involves strengthening, core stabilization, range of motion, stretching, postural training, functional training, manual therapy and modalities. Your physical therapist will be able to better determine what your needs are and develop a plan of care specific to your needs." |
