Our user asked: "I have a lateral maleous ankle fracture and i made a surgery and my doctor ask me to push weight bearing and soft movement but the problem is that my foot is swollen , what shall I do and what is the cause of being swollen?"
Ask a PT Response: "The swelling is a normal inflammatory response after an injury which is part of the healing process. Applying the PRICE principal (protect, rest, ice, compress, elevate) along with active range of motion exercises are common treatment interventions performed by patients who are seen by PT's. I hope this helps."
