Our user asked: "pt told me to bear 25# weight and walk with brace and crutches for 20 min/daily. also heel slides, ankle pumps, gluteal sets, sit in chair without brace, press 25 # on scale every few hours. i did this as told, whole leg swelled, ankle puffy and now yellow. no surgery, accident happened mar 15, pt came april 2. I am 65 year old female in good shape. thank you. it just seems like too much too soon."

Ask a PT Response: "I would contact the PT you worked with and notify him or her of your current status and see if you can get any feeback. From what you describe, your home exercise sounds appropriate. However, if you are experiencing increase edema or symptoms, it may be a good idea to back off somewhat. The PT may be able to provide some other recommendations which or modifications which may owrk better for you."
