Ask a PT 156 Posts Ask a PT Response: "When you mention you underwent shoulder stabilization surgery in March I am assuming you most likely underwent capsular tightening. After the surgery, you were then told to protect and rest your shoulder until May/June and at that time you were to begin PT. Therefore, you are now approximately 6 months status post surgery now. At about 6 months out, your workout routine is on the higher level end in regards to stress/difficulty. From your workout routine you might be overstressing your biceps. For example, a chin up requires alot of work from the biceps. That might be why you might be experiencing pain with an activity such as curling a 15lb wt. Pain at the anterior aspect of the shoulder can be associated with involvement of the rotator cuff but it can include involvement of the biceps long head tendon as well. I would recommend you wait to see what your surgeon has to say and work with your PT for now to develop a less stressful routine which will help you simulate and prepare you for your duties at work. Good luck and thanks for using CyberPT." |
