We have had a posting up for a new therapist for almost a year now. It seems that we can't compete with the organizations that are offering higher pay and huge sign on bonuses. In fact I heard one organization was giving out $15,000 sign on bonuses for a 2 year commitment! The organization is even in a larger city. Just wondering if there are other organizations out there that are experiencing this same situation.

Jill,
The PT market is extremely competitive right now. It appears that we have increase demand and not enough supply. We are experiencing a situation similiar to yours and have had to utilize contract therapists. Luckily we have interviewed a few individuals and are hoping to have someone hired soon. As far as sign on bonuses go, we are offering that as well ($5,000) but not $15,000! Good luck with your recruiting.
Eric

I see this was posted quite a while ago.

Is their still a shortage in this field, I understand that many of the various medical fields have been seeing a shortage, and PT is not one which is often thought of when people decide they want to practise medicine.

Yet it seems to still be a very lucrative one.
