Our user asked: "I have had pain in my upper back on my right side next to my shoulder blade for almost a year stragiht. I have no idea what the problem could be. It feels better when i ice it but then it gets worse everytime i try to use that muscle area. I injured it when i was 14 in a football game. I am desperately looking for help."

Ask a PT Response: "It sounds like you may have some kind of involvement with your rhomboid muscle. You mention "it gets worse everytime you use the muscle area". This would be consistent if you have a rhomboid dysfunction. It may be a good idea for you to get a physical therapy evaluation to determine if that is the case, especailly since you have been dealing with this condition for so long. Through the evaluation, the physical therapist will be able to determine what may be going on and develop a plan of care specific to your condition. Good luck with your road to recovery and thanks for using CyberPT."
