Hello, I was wondering what to do. I recently had a back issue in my lower back that my chiropractor said was a nerve being pushed on. No incident caused it. Anyway, in a few weeks it went away and then bam, I slipped going down the stairs and landed on my rear and my back. At first I could not breathe and I felt something pop. It has been 3 weeks since that happened and my chiropractor thinks it was superficial and was not a big deal. My tailbone has been slow to heal but is getting better, however my back along where the ribs attach are really bad. The more I stand at work the worse it gets. Stretching does not help, it only creates more pain. I am getting somewhat worried that it does not seem to be healing. With my nerve issue, the more I did the better I felt, this makes me want to do nothing but lay down. Have I been going about this all wrong? I don't want to cause further injury. Oh yeah, and stupid me did not go to the doctor, just the chiropractor. Any help would be greatly appreciated.
Thomas.

A fall could result in an alignment issue with your sacrum and spine. Your chiropractor should hopefully be able to help with that. Did your chiropractor take an x-ray of your thoracic spine/ribs to rule out a fracture? Other causes of your pain such as muscular strain/irritation, joint dysfunction or disc problems need to be ruled out as well. If it is not an actual alignment issue as a result of your fall, a physical therapist would be better suited to help you with your condition than a chiropractor, especially since it has been over 3 weeks now and you have not gotten relief working with your chiropractor.

Thank you for the advice. I will check on a physical therapist right away.
