Dear Colleague: The APTA is conducting its 2007 Practice Profile Survey. They are changing the intent of the survey this year. Information will be used to answer questions about the supply/demand of physical therapists and will assist us in responding to a House of Delegates motion directing APTA to study workforce issues to ensure that quality physical therapy services can be provided to patients/clients. They have therefore, shortened the survey so that we are only asking questions relevant to work force issues. Survey results will help guide decisions made by the Board of Directors, various APTA appointed committees and panels, as well as physical therapists with questions about work force. They hope to receive a substantial number of completed surveys to ensure that results are representative of all physical therapists. Be assured that your responses will be confidential and results will be disseminated only in aggregate form. Please take the necessary time to complete the survey. Again, the survey instrument should take less time to complete than in the past. Information from the survey will be used to generate a number of reports that will be made available on the APTA Website. Please contact Marc Goldstein, EdD, Director of Research Services, if you have any questions about the survey, or if you would like additional information. Marc can be reached by e-mail at research-dept@apta.org. He can also be reached by telephone at (800) 999-2782, ext 3205.
