Our user asked: "My right elbow has been bothering me for about 2 years now. I don't know how I injured it or anything. Everytime I throw with it whether it be a football, baseball or anything it starts to hurt and the pain lasts a long time. The pain goes all the way up to my shoulder and all the way down to my hand. Everytime I go to the doctors and they take x-rays they say nothing is wrong but clearly something is. What your take?"

Ask a PT Response: "X-rays are only effective for detection of fracture or malalignment. A MRI is a better imaging technique for detection of soft tissue injury. It may be a good idea to get an evaluation from a PT given you have had this problem for two years now. Perhaps you may have instability, strength deficits, mechanical issues, etc at your elbow which may be contributing to the onset of pain with throwing. Your therapist would be able to determine this."
