Our user asked: "I have bad pain in my acl knee with that knee back during a lunge. With that knee forward I have no issues, but backwards it feels like a bad pull and severe pain on on the top of my knee cap and around the knee. I had surgery 6 months ago, but had to stop due to an achilles injury due to the acl brace. I also was told I had condromalcia in that knee after surgery. Due the fact I have serious pain with knee extension as well. Can you please let me know why I would have pain in the rear leg with a lunge. Thank you!"
Ask a PT Response: "There could be a number of things going on that could be contributing to your pain. They can include improper mechanics, tight quads, weak quads, muscle imbalance, postural/anatomical abnormalities, etc. Without physically examining you, I would not be able to tell you why you are having the pain. I would suggest that you see a PT if you are able to, so that he or she will be able to conduct an evaluation and determine what may be the cause of your pain and recommend to you the appropriate plan of care tailored to your specific needs. I apologize I could not have been of more help." |
