Ask a PT 156 Posts Ask a PT Response: "With this type of surgery you will want to avoid over exertion and stress to this area. You should not be performing any strenuous activities until your surgeon has cleared you. Meanwhile, walking to your tolerance is what is recommended by most surgeons. When you have been cleared by your surgeon, you may want to consider a consultation with a physical therapist so that he or she can examine your individual situation. A physical therapist may work on core stabilization and hip/lower extremity strengthening exercises with you if deemed appropriate to help with your current situation and to prevent further recurrence. It is not advised for you to begin any exercises on your own prior to medical consultation. Thanks for using CyberPT." |
