Ask a PT 156 Posts Ask a PT Response: "What I usually recommend to my patients prior to them undergoing a total knee replacement is to have them perform and become familiar with the strengthening and range of motion exercises which are usally prescribed after this type of surgery. These exercises can include quad sets, short arc quads, hamstring sets, heel slides, and straight leg raises. Exercise video clips of these exercises can be found on the CyberPT exercise video page. If my patient is not alraedy using a walker, I will also review the use of a walker and the appropriate sequencing with it as well. Good luck with your surgery and thank you for using CyberPT." |
