Our user asked: "Hello. I have connective tissue problems in general, mostly in my knees
and back. I am researching home based low impact cardio workout options and would like some input on rowing machines vs eliptical trainers and/or cycle trainers. My knees get sore very easily, and my back achess every day. I frequent a chiropractor and stretch daily. I try to walk or ride my bike around my home which is rural and hilly- and both end up making my knees sore. Also, winter is coming. I have a small space to work out, and now my choice is rower, mini eliptical or mini cycler. Any input would be appreciated." Ask a PT Response: "I usually recommend to my patients who have issues at the joints to perform low impact activities. For those who have back problems as well, I would have them try an indoor recumbent bike which helps with supporting the back. My suggestion to you would be to perhaps purchase a day membership at a gym if you don't belong to one and try the various machines which you mention to determine what would best work for you. The equipment you mention can be expensive and you would not want to purchase something which you would not be comfortable with. "
