Our user asked: "Hi, I am a 28 year old guy, and have a rhomboid strin 8 months ago. Nothing works, Ice, hot, I´ve done your stretching and strenghtening. What should I do, am I doing something wrong. Need help.... please...."
Ask a PT Response: "Modalities, stretching, and strengthening may not be enough. There may be many other issues which could be contributing to pain at the rhomboid. You could have other issues such as weakness elsewhere (ie. rotator cuff) which could result in additional work and strain to the rhomboids. You could have mechanical issues which again could put added work/strain to the rhomboids. You could also have a myofascial dysfunction at the rhomboids which would require manual therapy to release it. There are other possibilites as well which I can't determine since I am unable to physicaly examine you. Otherwise, may not even be having an issue with the rhomboids at all (ie. cervical spine). You are a young guy and if you have been having pain for this long I am sure it has affected your quality of life. It may be a good idea now to finally consult with a PT so that he or she can conduct a thorough evaluation and determine what may be contributing to your pain and develop and implement the necessary plan of care specific for you. Good luck."
