Our user asked: "3 years ago I broke my ankle and had to have a plate and 8 screws put in it. For the last year I have been walking on the treadmill and continue to have problems with my ankle. Within 5 mins of walking at 3 to 3.5 miles per hour with no incline my ankle burns severely. Slowing down doesn't help. I have tried wrapping it, warming up, inserts in my athlete shoes nothing helps. What is this and what can I do to overcome it."
Ask a PT Response: "Do you experience the burning senation at the ankle with other activities as well besides just walking on the treadmill? ie. walking in general, standing for prolonged periods, walking on uneven surfaces, etc? Also where is the buning sensation located? A burning sensation at the inside of the ankle or bottom of the foot is often associated with tarsal tunnel syndrome."
