Our user asked: "Hello, So,I just got my cast after having distal fibula displacement surgery. My doc has prescribed 6 weeks of PT, 3x a week. The problem is, I'm poor, I have no health insurance, and I'm already in for a few thousand due to this accident. I am, however, resourceful..I've seen many exercises online, and can do roller massage and hot and cold therapy. I realize that it would be far better to do this supervised, but the costs are prohibitive. Can I do a reasonable job of PT on my own? I'm sorry to have to ask this, I would love to be able to do the full run, but it would be financially stressful. Alternately, is it reasonable to do something in the middle, like maybe a weekly appointment instead of a 3x a week?"

Ask a PT Response: "You can definitley see a PT one time a week or for how many visits you think will work for you. I'd recommend at least the initial evaluation so the PT can do an evaluation and develop a plan of care specific to your needs. Best of luck to you."
