Our user asked: "Is it safe for a lumbar fusion patient (one year post op)to use a Roman Chair to strengthen lower back muscles?"

Ask a PT Response: "A Roman Chair requires a patient to have a lot of core strength and would stress the lumbar spine. This would not be something that I would have a patient do 1 year after lumbar fusion. There are alot of other exercises that the patient can perform which will help with strengthening the back."
