Our user asked: "Please help. This is a serious occurrence. A few days ago I had an experience where a therapist placed his hand inside my butt cheeks pressing down for several minutes. I'm concerned I'm right that this is not appropriate because he immediately moved his hand when another therapist came in. He later closed the door and placed it immediately back. I'm scared and felt interrogated when the corporate office returned my call. I need peace. Is this appropriate under any circumstances? I will not use your name or site as any reference. I just need peace. Please help. I don't know what to do."

Ask a PT Response: "What are you being treated for? Often times for buttock/SI pain I have had to place my hands in a location which may be considered uncomfortable to the patient but I always explain what I am going to do and why before I proceed. The door should be closed as this is something which requires privacy. If you are uncomfortable, definitely have a conversation with the therapist so that both of you are on the same page."
