Our user asked: "I have script to get p.t. for a possible cervical trapezius strain. My symptoms started on 4/1/08 with excruciating shoulder to neck to head pain, with a repeat less than 24 hrs. later. The problem continues. How long will it take with p.t. to alleviate the problem? Roughly, how many sessions with homework, as well?"

Ask a PT Response: "Depending on what is going on at your neck, recovery will vary with participation in physical therapy. I would say generally after 3-4 weeks of physical therapy and compliance with a home exercise program there should be some kind of improvement with your condition. If there is not, than further medical attention shuold be warranted. I hope this helps. Thanks for using CyberPT."
