Our user asked: "Hello I have a c5-c6 herniated disk. Can you recommend some exercises I can do to a)relieve the pain, and b) stop in happening again. Thank you"

Ask a PT Response: "I would recommend you get an evaluation from a physical therapist to determine which exercises are appropriate for you. He or she would be able to better determine which exercises would be beneficial for you. For disc involvement at the neck, care must be taken to perform exercises which are indivualized for the patient so as not to make the condition worse. You can learn more about a herniated disc at the cervical spine and the treatment options for a PT at: http://www.cyberpt.com/cptcondtrtcervicaldiscbulge.asp - http://www.cyberpt.com/cptcondtrtcervicaldiscbulge.asp .  As far as prevention, physical therapists will usually have the patient continue with their home exercise program which includes ROM, stretching, strengthening, traction, postural training and work modification. Good luck with your condition and thank you for using CyberPT."
