Our user asked: "Hello, I've got a pinched nerve in my neck as diagnosed by a sports orth. X-rays of shoulder show slight bone spurs. I weight lift and was wondering if the pinched nerve could result in almost all strength being absent on the side of the strain? Also muscle cramp in tricep. I was put on medrol for 6 days. Thanks"

Ask a PT Response: "A pinched nerve can result in weakness to the side where the nerve root is branching out from and being impinged. Triceps is primarily innervated by the C7 nerve root. Impingement at this level could result in weakness, pain, numbness/tingling, etc.. Medrol is an antiinflammatory and can help reduce the imflammation occuring at the region of the impingement which could help with decreasing the sx."
