Our user asked: "I had surgery to fix a Bankart Lesion tear as well as minor repair of the rotator cuff. It has been 7 weeks since the surgery and I have not been able to go to physical therapy due to income. I downloaded the stretches and excercises to start working on my shoulder. I do, however, hear a "creeking" noise from the top of my shoulder when I move it. I can also feel something that does not hurt but feels like something is rubbing inside my shoulder. Is this common or am I in some form of trouble because i havn't been able to go to phyical therapy? Could you please help me. i have no money so anything you tell me would be of great help. Thank you"
Ask a PT Response: "It is not uncommon to hear some noises in the shoulder with performing range of motion exercises. To be on the safe side you may want to follow up with your surgeon in regards to this. You may also want to ask your surgeon for a protocol for the bankart lesion and rotator cuff repair which may describe the exercises you should be performing. Most protocols are surgeon and surgery specific and will list specific exercises which should be performed along with progression. Examples of such protocols can be found on our protocols page: http://www.cyberpt.com/cyberptprotocols.asp - http://www.cyberpt.com/cyberptprotocols.asp . Please remember that each surgeon, surgery and patient are different. Therefore the protocols are NOT universal guidelines for all patients. Therefore, it is extremely important that you follow up with the surgeon who performed your surgery prior to performing any self treatment. Best of luck to you."
