Our user asked: "Does having crystals in your ear, and vertigo have anything to do with MS?? Does being dizzy because of ear crystals mean a possibility of having MS??"

Ask a PT Response: "In regards to your question about crystals beeing loose in your ear (BPPV) and MS - Research indicates that up to 60% of the vertigo in people with MS is a result of benign paroxysmal positional vertigo (BPPV), rather than due to a demyelinating lesion. As far as your question "Does being dizzy because of ear crystals mean a possibility of having MS??" - from what I understand of MS being dizzy is not a common symtom of MS. According to WebMD early symptoms of MS include: tingling, numbness, loss of balance, weakness in one or more limbs and blurred or double vision. If you are concerned with having MS, it may be a good idea to consult with your MD and express your concern."
