Our user asked: "I am looking for a standardized balance test for clients who are wheelchair bound and cannot participate in the Berg, Tinetti, TUG or FR tests."
 
Ask a PT Response: "In my literature research, I found no tests that were specific to those in wheelchairs. However, I come to think that the Multidirectional Reach Test and the Backwards Release Test could be used for someone in a wheelchair. Here is a handbook on balance assessments that lines out the protocol for those tests:
