Our user asked: "how long should i do these exercises for, i.e. 1 month, 6 months, 1 year? i had tennis elbow and completed pt-- ice, electro, etc. my trainer recommended them, and they don't cause pain, so i will be doing them as a warm up before we work out. is this ok or should i not exercise/ lift weights/cables after i do them?"

Ask a PT Response: "For my patients who have recovered from tennis elbow I would recommend to them to at least continue with the stretching exercises (wrist flexor & extensor stretches in the super 7 along with forearm pronator & supinator stretches). I don't see a problem with someone who has had tennis elbow and would like to continue with the exericises in the super 7 for a warm up. However, I would caution in utilizing too heavy of a weight as this could exacerbate the condition again.
One thing I definitely want to understand when I work with my patients is to determine what contributed to the tennis elbow so as to prevent a recurrence (ie. poor mechanics, poor equipment fitting, repetition, weakness, flexibility, trauma, etc..). If your therapist has addressed that with you already, you will hopefully be more than likely to prevent a recurrence. "
