Our user asked: "Hi, When does one with medial epicondylitis begin strengthening exercises? I do not want to begin too soon and hurt my elbow. It still feels achey and weak - especially with flexion of middle finger. Thank you"

Ask a PT Response: "For my patients who I see with medial epicondylitis, I don't add strengthening exercises until the second or third week of therapy. Resistance for strengthening is initially very light and is gradually increased per my patient's tolerance. Here is an informative protocol on medial epicondylitis which may help you with gaining a better understanding with exercise progression: http://www.atlantafalconsptc.com/pdfs/pro-cweil-golferselbow.pdf - http://www.atlantafalconsptc.com/pdfs/pro-cweil-golferselbow.pdf "
