Our user asked: "I am having to answer a series of questions in order to get into PTA school and one of the questions is "describe three different services that PTA provide and how you think each is helpful to patients or community". I am not quite sure how to answer this please help."

Ask a PT response: "PTA's assist PT's in providing a variety of services including inpatient rehab, oupatient rehab, pediatrics, nursing homes, etc...
In regards to how it is helpful to patients/community it is pretty obvious depending on the service provided."

Physical therapy assistants assist physical therapists in providing care to patients. Their regular work is to provide exercise, instruction, electrical stimulation, mechanical traction and observing the radiology images. They also serve massaging and train the patients on gait and balancing. Physical therapy assistants also record the patient's responses to treatment. The following site would give you more details. http://physicaltherapycolleges.org/ - http://physicaltherapycolleges.org/
During the beginning of their practice physical therapy assistants work under the direction and supervision of physical therapists. But gradually with experience they learn to perform the work independently.
