Our user asked: "I had a wreck on 5/4/11 after 2 months I have finally started pt along with a steroid dose pack. Some days the pt seems to help with the burning sensation and replaced with a aching pain. I guess my question is does pt fix this or is it just a pain relief technique? My concern is pt easin the pain and nit fixing it and re-injuring myself"

Ask a PT Response: "PT has been found to help with recovery from a herniated cervical disc. Some of the exercises may help with relieving pain as well. The various things you do in PT such as strengthening, stabilization, postural training, functional training, traction, manual therapy, etc. may help with your current condition as well with prevention in the future as well. Better posture, a stronger neck and improved range of motion are all items when improved on may prevent reinjury."
